Omega 3 fatty acids have been proven to improve blood pressure, lower cholesterol, reduce cancer, improve memory and even improve mood, help decrease stress and improve overall health. Omega 3 fatty acids can be difficult to consume on a regular basis, and unless you eat a lot of fish, which can contain dangerous levels of toxins like mercury and lead, it can be difficult to consume adequate amounts of Omega 3's.
Supplementation is by far, the easiest and most consistent method of ensuring that your body is receiving the widespread benefits of Omega 3 fatty acids. So how do you decide which supplement is right for you? Here's what to look for:
Taste. Fish oil is a common omega 3 fatty acid supplement but it doesn't taste good, in fact it tastes pretty bad and the capsules can cause digestive side effects, um...burps. Instead many people prefer flax seed oil. It doesn't have the fishy taste and it can be added right to a variety of foods to make every meal extra healthy. Barleans Flax Oil comes in cinnamon and lemonade flavors. Cinnamon tastes great in oatmeal and in vanilla yogurt.
Ease of use. Many omega fatty acids supplements require you to take them several times a day. That requires you to carry the supplements with you throughout the day. It's much easier to simply add a bit of flaxseed oil to your breakfast oatmeal or in your mid day protein shake. So easy and buy bulk l-alanine tasty!
Purity. Look for 100% unrefined, unfiltered, organic flaxseed oil. There is no better kind. Barleans Flax Oil, found here meets these high standards.
The American Heart Association recommends 1000 mg a day. Make sure that your supplement is providing enough every day. A few tablespoons of Barleans Flax Oil and you're good to go. My Secret Pantry has the best quality of Flax Seed Oil available.
